There was a time when the corridors of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa echoed with the sad silence of a small Poodle named Shey.

At 14 years old, Shey was left behind by his family when they moved, relegating him to a lonely existence within the cold walls of the shelter.

“Shey was very comfortable with Tristan from the start,”

Said Jorgenson.

“He understood that Shey couldn’t hear and couldn’t see things clearly, he was very respectful of what Shey could and couldn’t handle,”

Jorgesson said.

With empathy beyond his years, Tristan adapted his home to accommodate Shey, creating a safe and welcoming space where the Poodle could rest and feel loved.

Shey found his favorite spot in Tristan’s arms, where the warmth of human love enveloped him like a comforting blanket.

Even in his old age, he found a new reason to live, a new family to call his own.

Tristan not only brought joy to Shey’s life, but also learned valuable lessons about compassion, empathy, and responsibility while caring for the elderly dog.

Now comfortably settled in his new home, Shey enjoys the sunny days of his life, surrounded by the love and care of his adoptive family.
