Abandoned Puppy with Sofa and TV Stays Still Hoping for His Owners to Return

In a world where dogs are loved and revered as family members, it is heartbreaking to witness cases of abandonment that shatter their unwavering trust and loyalty.

La-Z-Boy Gatson is one such dog, whose story of abandonment and hope is touching and inspiring.

In the heat of June 2019, on the roads of Lincoln County, Mississippi, a distressing scene was discovered.

A small puppy just 4 months old was found, lonely and hungry, next to a recliner chair and a television, objects that now seemed to be the only remnants of his former life.

Sharon Norton, an animal control officer, arrived at the scene and witnessed the poignant image of this little dog, waiting tirelessly for a return that would never come.

The puppy’s fragility was evident, as was his persistent hope of reuniting with his owners.

Even amidst his hunger and helplessness, his eyes shone with the expectation of seeing a familiar face.

But as he remained there, motionless in the chair, clinging to the illusion of a possible return home, Sharon Norton offered him a new chance for love and security.

With care and kindness, she calmed him and fed him, offering him not only food for his stomach but also comfort for his broken heart.

From that moment on, La-Z-Boy, as he was affectionately called in honor of the chair that cradled him, began his journey of recovery and rebirth.

“He was very happy when I picked him up and took him to the animal control truck. I could feel his tail wagging on my back, wagging. He knows he’s safe now,”

Norton said.

Taken to a shelter and later to an animal rescue league, La-Z-Boy received the care he so deserved. His health was restored, and his loving and playful personality began to flourish.

Dave Trammell and Sommer Guy were La-Z-Boy’s guardian angels, traveling over 15 hours from Michigan to Mississippi to adopt him.

And so, La-Z-Boy found his new home and a family that loved him deeply.

In Plymouth, Michigan, La-Z-Boy finally found the home he longed for. With his dog sister, Penelope, by his side, he enjoys sunny days and cozy nights, living his “best life” to the fullest.

La-Z-Boy’s story is a powerful reminder of the human compassion and the resilience of animals.

While his beginning may have been marked by sadness and abandonment, his ending is a testament to the unconditional love that exists between dogs and humans.

May La-Z-Boy continue to inspire us all to never give up hope and to always extend a helping hand to those in need.
