“I observed a light brown dog, possibly a pitbull, lying in the grass. Every rib, vertebra, and leg bone could be clearly seen under the skin. I had never seen such an emaciated dog, still alive, in my career. A dog of this type should weigh around 75 pounds or more and looked like it weighed around 25 to 30 pounds.”
Broz said.
His frail body and wounds cried out for help, but his eyes expressed a silent determination.
Broz did not hesitate to act. He took Herbie to the Lorain Animal Clinic, where a journey of recovery began.
The first days were tough, but Herbie showed incredible inner strength. His condition began to improve gradually, and soon he was enjoying the simple joys of life again.
However, sad news loomed over Herbie’s progress. The diagnosis of adenocarcinoma brought a dark cloud over his recovery journey.
“We don’t know how long he will live. Days to months? As long as he is happy, pain-free, eating, not losing weight, and not showing signs of cancer affecting his mind, we will keep him active.”
The team said.
But even in the face of this obstacle, Herbie continued to radiate joy and love.
The bond between Herbie and Officer Broz was palpable. During his stay at the clinic, Herbie looked at Broz with gratitude and trust, as if he knew he had found a true friend.
And on weekends, Herbie had the joy of going back home with Broz, where he received all the love and attention he deserved.
